Diane’s New Blog – All Things Undone

I really am starting a blog of my own. No fooling. Starting today, the day before April Fool’s Day, Diane’s Blog begins. I’ll be blogging here every Wednesday and Friday in April and giving away a prize each of those days.

On Mondays, I’ll still be at Risky Regencies, where we–mostly–try to stick to Regency relevant topics: writing, reading, or researching about the Regency. For Diane’s blog, though, I thought I might branch out a little, relax, stretch my legs and maybe my wings, too. Have even more fun!

Pleasurably Undone, Harlequin Historical’s first print Undone anthology, has its official release date tomorrow, although it should already be on the bookstore shelves. Before this, Harlequin Historical Undones, a line of sexy short stories, were only available as eStories to be read on your computer or eBook Reader. The Unlacing of Miss Leigh, my best-selling Undone, is a part of this debut anthology. What could be more perfectly sygernistic than to coincide the launch of my new blog with the launch of the new Undone venture?

The other authors of Pleasurably Undone have each generously offered one of their backlist books as a prize. Read more about them on Fridays.

My theme for the month is “Undone.” In all my posts I’ll make some reference to “Undone.” I’m not sure how I’m going to do it or what tie-ins I’ll find, but every blog day will have something “Undone” in it!

I’m open for suggestions. Use your imagination. What can you think of that relates to “Undone?”

(Mind blank? Comment anyway for a chance to win a signed copy of The Diamonds of Welbourne Manor) which, besides my Justine and the Noble Viscount, features novellas written by Amanda McCabe and Deb Marlowe that are both finals for RWA’s prestigious RITA award.

Well, I knit and sew, so ‘undone’ usually means I’ve had to pick out stitches because I got something wrong. But that’s completely un-sensual and probably not what yuou were looking for!

  4. Hey Diane–congrats on the launch of the new blog!

  5. Wooo Hooo! Gorgeous site, Diane. I’ve added it to our faves.

  6. Kirsten says:

    Hi Diane,
Congrats on your new blog!!! This is very exciting.

I like to write poetry and often struggle to get a “right” ending. It often feels like it’s undone. Something is missing. I’ll just leave it (for a while) and hope that it’ll come to me later. Sometimes it does and having waited gives me a new outlook on it.

Can’t really think of other things related to undone so I’ll leave this and maybe come back later….
    Best, Kirsten

Lovely site Diane! And I really do need to grab a copy of the “Diamonds” anthology. All those great authors in one fell swoop. Must have.

Undone…hmm…for me, it reminds me of my propensity for multi-tasking. I move around and start little tasks before finishing other ones. Hubby, who doesn’t operate that way, likes to jump in and finish up things I’ve left Undone assuming that I’ve just wandered off.

    • Diane says:

Jeannie, I wish my husband would do that!!!

Jeannie, we’re all waiting eagerly for your debut Harlequin Historical, Butterfly Swords!!!!

  8. Emily says:

Congratulations on your new blog, Diane! Already it feels like a very inviting space. Your “Undone”s are kind of rehabilitating the word for me, so it that instead of accusing me, the word is inviting me :-)

    Cheers!
    Emily

The blog looks beautiful, Diane. I’m certain it will be a favorite spot of mine.

Remember the game show $20,000 Pyramid? I think that’s the one. “Things that Are Undone:”
    –clasps
    –chores
    –buttons
    –plans
    –taxes
    Hmmm, that’s all I’ve got.

Congrats on the release of Pleasurably Undone! I can’t wait to read it.

  10. Diane says:

This is so terrific! I’m really touched to see so many comments. I thought I’d have to twist friends’ arms. Turns out, some of you came anyway! And new friends as well.

  11. Cindy Nord says:

Wonderful blog, Diane, to go right along with your wonderful, wonderful writing! And congratulations on your newest release.

Hi, Diane! How nice to visit you at your own blog : )

Here’s a fabulous song from the great, classic rock group “The Guess Who”. It was written by Randy Bachman. The lead singer for group was Burton Cummings. Quite a hunk, and oh, my…what a voice!

    “SHE’S COME UNDONE”

    She’s come undone
She didn’t know what she was headed for
And when I found what she was headed for
    It was too late

    She’s come undone
She found a mountain that was far too high
And when she found out she couldn’t fly
    It was too late

    It’s too late
    She’s gone too far
    She’s lost the sun
    She’s come undone
She wanted truth but all she got was lies
    Came the time to realize
    And it was too late

    She’s come undone
She didn’t know what she was headed for
And when I found what she was headed for
    Mama, it was too late

    It’s too late
    She’s gone too far
    She’s lost the sun
    She’s come undone

Too many mountains, and not enough stairs to climb
Too many churches and not enough truth
Too many people and not enough eyes to see
Too many lives to lead and not enough time

    It’s too late
    She’s gone too far
    She’s lost the sun
    She’s come undone

Diane, I love the look and “feel” of your blog. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and share in your knowledge and friendship with so many other authors and book lovers. :-)

As for “undone”…how about how, though we may have the best of intentions, we manage to leave something important or something on our “I’ve-just-got-to-do-this” list undone. Why, or what will motivate us to “just do it”! Anyway, only a suggestion.

  14. Congratulations O Divine One !! The blog is really hopping already! I knew it would be.

I think my favorite use of the word “Undone” is when a hero is completely “undone” by something a heroine does. Those unexpected, underestimated actions by another person that completely undo all of our preconceived notions about someone make for some great insight.

  15. Jane Austen says:

Well Diane, you’ve gotten further than I have. I believe the Fourmiddables will start blogging next week.

As far as Undone goes…I think about that book “She’s Come Undone”. It reminds me of me sometimes where I’m so busy planning events and trying to please all my bosses at work that I’m literally unraveling because things are so hectic and crazy. So I’ve come undone because the pieces of my life just aren’t fitting together. Luckily I have my alter ego to forget about it all for a while.

  16. Deb H. says:

Congrats on the new blog, Diane!

There are some very good suggestions for “undone” here. It’s the end of the day and, being a teacher, my thoughts are drained (Brain Drain). Sorry, I can’t think of anything.

Best wishes on your blogging experience.

  17. azteclady says:

    Undone… undone…

sorry, nothing that’s not obvious and/or has been mentioned before!

But all the same, wanted to stop by and congratulate you on the new digs, Ms Gaston!

  18. Judy says:

The last line always leaves me UNDONE. :-) Congrats, Diane!

  19. looks like we had a lot to say about being “undone” !! Great start to a great blog! I am really looking forward to stopping by! Going to thaw out now. Spent half the day in a freezer counting cupcakes!

  20. librarypat says:

This book got such great reviews and I believe a RITA nomination or two for the novellas. All the reviews for it have been wonderful. Enter me please.

As far as your “undone” theme I keep having the song “She’s Come Undone” by the Guess Who running through my head.
Actually if you read the lyrics, you might get some ideas.

    • Diane says:

      Hi, librarypat!
The novellas that got the RITA noms are Deb Marlowe and Amanda McCabe’s in The Diamonds of Welbourne Manor, the PRIZE for today!

I had to find and listen to She’s Come Undone and then I remembered it.

  21. Gillian says:

Everyone’s had great suggestions. Congrats on your new blog! It will really compliment your beautiful website.

  22. I love the idea! I am undone when I can’t write for a long period of time, due to all sorts of interruptions, even playing too much spider solitaire. Or wiritng a blog!!!!

    cheers,Vicky
