Lost Time

I have lost track of days!

That is my only excuse for forgetting my blog yesterday. It has been a problem all week. Several times I’ve had to consciously remind myself what day it was. Not only was I forgetting what day it was, I also was forgetting what tasks belonged to each day. Like blogging.

I looked up on the internet to see if others have this problem. I found a message board about those who are ADD. I think having ADD would be an excellent reason to lose track of days, but my excuse is a vastly different one.

You see, my dh retired at the end of the year and is now home All. The. Time. So far it has been a pleasure, but it does give me fewer markers for what day of the week it is.

My apologies!

Have you ever lost track of the days?

More times than I care to count. Couple years ago, I started a 40-day fasting and prayer routine. No, I don’t actually fast every day. However, I schedule Yahoo to send me a reminder every day. I go in and change the day (1-40) and set again for the next day. It helps me remain mindful, and I have to look at the calendar at least once a day. I’ve created other little routines that are dependent on me alone but are unique to each day: Different exercises for Mon/Wed/Fri and others for Tue/Thu and still others for Sat. Sunday is a day of rest. Whatever it takes to help me keep track of the days. Any change in the routine and I’m completely thrown off. I check my calendar online; I have a calendar on my wall, and occasionally, I have to check my desktop calendar. No beating yourself up. :-) Good to see you.

Bless you, Judy. You point me to what I must do now. I must create new routines to help me differentiate one day from another. Many of these are in place (and I look at my calendars all the time!) But I think I need to add a few so this doesn’t happen too often!

All the time actually. I’ve been retired since 2005 and I usually have to think about what day and/or date it is. Weeks with holidays really screw me up. Like my son says, everyday is Sunday to a retiree. But it can be murder if one person in the house still has a 9-5 (or whatever) job!

My daughter and her husband both quit working for corporate America several years ago and are both self-employed and work from home. They don’t have a problem with day/date but they agreed early on they do better with household & couple stuff in the AM and agreed to work 2nd shift. They both start working at 2:30 PM & work until 11 PM.
