This weekend the dh and I joined our friend Virginia to take a drive to Nokesville, Virginia, for the annual open house of the Virginia Museum of Military Vehicles, or, as I usually call it, The Tank Farm. This is our third year attending the open house where there are plenty of military tanks, jeeps, and other military vehicles on display. There are also plenty of reenactors, playing soldiers from different eras and different countries. This year there was even a flame thrower demonstration.
I felt right at home there. All that khaki. Bunches of men in uniform. It was like returning to my childhood living on military bases. I even heard a uniformed, white-haired gentleman use a Japanese phrase to his wife, one that was often spoken in our household from when my dad was stationed in Japan.
This year, though, what captivated me the most was a Lego exhibit! In one of the garages there was this amazing Lego ship.
And this other display:
They also had a display of Lego military vehicles that one could purchase, with prices starting at $40.00. I was delighted that I was not accompanied by my son when he was 10 years old! I don’t know how any kid could resist them.
I always keep an eye out for Regency-era things wherever I go and this time I found one!
Where have you been lately?
